WEEK 11- Comic-Book

 WEEK-11

Dear readers,

This week, as we continued with the story jumper, we also stepped into the process of making comics. This was the first time I encountered this concept, and it led me to discover a unique and creative way to tell stories in the comic book format.

What is the topic of our story in the comic Strip?

The subject of the story takes place in a class called Seasons at a school in the town where fun and successful students are located. The children, who have formed a strong friendship with their teachers, focus on a project given by their teachers for the week that highlights the importance of fruits in health. In this project, each child is asked to grow his or her favorite fruit and display it in the classroom. In this section, we enjoy both telling digital stories with the story jumper and creating stories in comic book format.

The process of making comics helped us hone our skills in determining character expressions, planning the drawing order, and organizing the story in comic book format. We also used our problem-solving skills to increase the fluidity of the story and convey an effective message to children.

The process of deciding on the subject

With our planning and sequencing skills, we created a detailed plan to ensure the integrity and flow of the story, and using our creativity skills, we enriched the character expressions to create an engaging comic that would attract children's attention and support their learning. I intend to analyze the content of the story in depth to help children better understand the concept of seasons.

The story of the comic and our learning goals

The learning goal stands out as telling children about the importance of fruits for health, enabling them to grow their own fruits, teaching which fruits grow in every season, and also emphasizing the importance of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation in overcoming difficulties.

Computational thinking skills:

In this story, collaboration, problem solving, and planning are at the forefront of computational thinking skills. Children have to make plans, deal with problems, and work in cooperation with each other to grow their own fruits within the scope of the project given by their teachers.

Especially in case Yaz gets sick, they collaborate with Bahar to grow strawberry seedlings and solve the problem, allowing them to use their computational thinking skills effectively. This helps students understand the importance of solidarity and cooperation.

This week of story jumpers and comics alike, we discovered that digital storytelling, as well as the comic book format, can be a pedagogically effective learning tool. This experience allowed us to both increase our technical skills and provide students with learning experiences from different perspectives.

Stay with love.
